Video Game Music of the Week – 27.05-02.06.2013

One game that was really big at the console clubs here back in the day, and one of the first that I ever set my eyes upon on the Mega Drive, was Mortal Kombat II. I’d seen the first game in arcades before, and the second chapter was definitely an improvement, with more characters to choose from, different and even more gruesome fatalities – more than one per character at that, stage fatalities, friendships, babalities… Eventually, my friend Ivaylo (a big Mortal Kombat fan and now one of the top-ranked MK9 players in the world, by the way) learned the cheat code from somewhere (which I still remember by heart to this day – back, down, back, forward, down, forward, back, back, forward, forward), and, through it, we discovered even more of the game’s quirks. And today, I’ll share one of MKII’s tracks that I really like with you – from the Genesis version, no less.

Composer: Dan Forden
Game: Mortal Kombat II (Genesis)
Song: The Tomb
