After the short break, we are back to King of Fighters. It’s 1998’s turn, the first “dream match” game in the series, which is not part of the canon. It saw the return of incredible badass Rugal – furthermore, he was playable! Genocide Cutters everywhere! The soundtrack was expectedly also mostly an assembly of themes we had heard before in the series, and I am choosing one that really should’ve been the choice for ’96, if not for the amazing Art of Fighting team theme. Yes, I am talking about “Esaka?”, theme of the Hero/Japanese team of Kyo Kusanagi, Benimaru Nikaido, and Goro Daimon. It’s one of the most iconic, most badass songs in the King of Fighters franchise, and naturally among my favourites, too.
