Final Fantasy Tactics, while a part of the franchise mostly by name (and Final Fantasy VII cameos), is easily one of the best, if not THE best in the series – only the mighty Final Fantasy VII, a game considered by a large part of gamers to be the best of all time, challenges it in terms of overall quality. Telling the story of the courageous, yet unsung hero Ramza, it is a heavily political, war game. Like all Final Fantasies, it does get its touch of the supernatural in its medieval setting – something that actually slightly upset me back when I played it – it was just fine and quite gripping before introducing the Lucavi.
Anyway, Tactics has an amazing soundtrack, as well, composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata. It so happens that the song chosen today is by the latter, despite the former being the more famous one of the two. I picked the atypically calm and beautiful battle theme called “Under the Stars”.
