Not a videogame but I participated in a Magic the Gathering draft yesterday and went 2-1.

While trying to figure out what to do with the cards afterwards, I realized that rather than inputting every card I got and checking the price, I should try to find a list of cards in the set sorted by price high to low (which I did https://shop.tcgplayer.com/magic/masters-25 ) and see if I own any of the cards on the first few results, then simply throw the rest out.

Turns out I got only two cards worth over a dollar. Sundering Titan and Relentless Rats.

Now I just have to figure out what to do with those two cards. For now I should probably hoard them. I have two unopened Masters boosters as well, maybe when I sell them I'll throw the cards in for good measure. I just need to figure out where to stash the cards so they don't get mixed up the next time I go to draft. Wouldn't want to get in trouble for allegedly cheating.

I finally played Gold Rush Anniversary but ants killed me in Panama  Funny the ants killed me. But the horse-drawn carriage than ran over me 3 times didn't.

This game is a remake of an adventure game from 1988

One review said: The remakes graphics instead of "looking like they're circa 2014, seem closer to something released in 2001."

Agreed.

Back to Ys Origin. Finally got the PS4 controller to work on steam ... had to enter Steam's "Big Picture Mode" to get it to work plus use the right USB cable/slot

The game is much better (easier to control) now cuz the keyboard controls were a pain in the ass. Square = attack and X = Jump all the way!

Went to another draft and went 0-2. I'm less excited about drafting now, but in hindsight it was still pretty cool. It was a six man pod instead of eight, which is a bummer, but I found that my opponents are more likely to play cards that I passed to them. It gives me valuable information on those whether I should have taken those cards.

In this set, or in general? In this set the most valuable card is $80 but only about 15 cards worth more than $10.

If we're talking any Magic card, Black Lotus can go for over 20 grand.
https://www.cnet.com/news/guy-opens-old-magic-the-gathering-deck-stumbles-on-27000-card/
Mox Pearl is listed at $2399 on starcitygames.com and they have exactly one in stock.
Time Walk is $3499, only one in stock.
I doubt many cards are worth over $100. Cards like the above are the exceptions since they're really old, highly overpowered cards from Magic's awkward first print.

Tarmogoyf and Jace are infamous for being in high demand and highly OP, but starcitygames lists for them sale at $89.99 and $109.99, respectively. (Foil versions will cost more, obviously.)

edit: I am thinking of getting a standard-legal deck, so I went to starcitygames.com and added all the cards to my cart. The total is $66.18. I might want at least 3 copies of a $24.99 card but I decided to leave it out for now since I wanted to keep the initial cost low.

They stupidly made a promise a long time ago never to reprint certain cards. (The reserved list) People are sort of divided on it but I guess you kinda have to respect the fact the MtG staff held their word, even though they themselves wish it didn't exist.

https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/official-reprint-policy-2010-03-10
It's funny that there are some shitty cards on the list. Things change over time, such as power level, just another reason never to make a promise like this.

I'm playing Albion Online ... it reminds me of old 2D MMOs I used to play

It's kind of slow though, not sure if I'll play it much longer.

I think I may be hopping from game to game too much lately ... the graphics in Albion Online were ok but the gameplay so far SUCKS.

It's just as grindy as those old 2D MMOs. I had to keep chopping wood, collecting stones, picking cotton, and killing foxes and rabbits. I'm going to give it one last try by entering an actual mission/quest/dungeon whatever they call it. If it's a snoozefest then it's probably time to uninstall it.

I downloaded a 1995/6 database for Football Manager 2017.

I'm tired of football these days, I just find it hard to care about it. Sure, it's the greatest sport on Earth, but it's also meh.

When I look back at this old database it reminds me of why I love football so much! Nowadays it's all the best players at the top few teams, but back then it was just so open. You had so many world class players spread across every continent it was exciting every world cup, you never knew who would come good!

Name the best 11 in the world right now, you'll probably come up with a top 20 at the most, some people will prefer some players over the others but it's basically just the same squad. In 1995 you would struggle to pick from 100 players! Football had so much more depth to it back then. Anybody saying Ronaldo is breaking records needs to watch the 90s when competition was fierce and records were almost unobtainable.

I know this is 1986, before the 90s, but this is the level of football back until SKY TV took over everything with big money deals and ruined it all.

I'm totally addicted to FM2017, but only because of the old database. I play it every spare minute I get. Alan Shearer is my bae <3

Thanks for the info! Not meaning to offend you as a Magic fan, but it's really fascinating to me how people assign value to things that, to most other people, lack any real value... Well, come to think of it, the entire money system is like that. I think less than 10% of the money circulating in the world actually exist. The rest is all only in digital form, in bank accounts, etc.

20 thousand for a Magic card... If there was enough demand, one might really think of investing in something like that, as Blackscar joked.

Football truly was amazing back then... I am so nostalgic towards those times, and I know it's not just having grown up now that makes me feel that way. Too much money in football has spoilt the youngsters rotten. Very few individuals have the self-drive to push themselves to excel and rise to the top, and that is why we've got Messi or Ronaldo winning the Golden Ball. Although they're both over 30 now. What happens when they retire? A giant hole that will, at this rate, never be filled.

And on topic... I am playing Tales of Vesperia, although at a rate of like 2-3 hours a week because there are so many other things to do... And I'm playing it in Japanese, that's the only language it came out in on PS3. I bought it at a used-book shop during our last trip to Japan. Finally, I am fluent enough in the language to understand most of it. Of course, unknown words still come out every few minutes, but understanding everything else is very fulfilling.

I'm slowly attacking my backlog ... wow I didn't think I'd enjoy some of these games as much as I would.

I'm playing Game of Thrones - A Telltale Games Series. Never watched the TV show or read the books because they were so overhyped it turned me off. This game isn't that bad though. It's more like an interactive movie (like Dragon's Lair or those interactive moments in FFVIII's movies) so far.

Found a funny article about the Telltale game studios on the game's community page on steam. It's kind of a long read but talks about game developer burnout, tight deadlines layoffs etc etc.

Toxic management cost an award-winning game studio its best developers https://www.theverge.com/2018/3/20/17130056/telltale-games-developer-layoffs-toxic-video-game-industry

O and apparently, the studio founders were former employees of LucasArts so they have a rich history and experience of making adventure games.

Amazing game, one of my favourite!

As for me, I'm at the end of my first season using the 95/96 database. With a single game to go I'm 1 point ahead of Arsenal, one little slip will cost me the title. I'm actually feeling the pressure, I'm scared to advance to the last game!

Huh I don't get it ... how come there's no store page for Football Manager 2017 on steam? Is it because the 2018 version is out? Nevermind, I found the answer http://steamcommunity.com/app/482730/discussions/0/1698294337776495262/

... I never liked "football" much anyway.

It's like the one sport that the US doesn't try to monopolize

Ok, I won the league! Arsenal drew their final game but I won anyway. Beckham, Scholes and Keane, three legends scored as I won 1-3.

Started my second season by ushering in the youngsters a bit more. Ruud Van Nistelrooy has taken Cantona's position as the main striker, Ferdinand is in the team alongside Jaap Stam.

Did I mention I'm only buying players that actually went on to play for Man Utd? No others allowed. It's hard when you see Chelsea signing Rivaldo etc but I set myself the challenge to better Fergies record.

Michael Owen is tearing up the under 18s right now, he got 6 goals in one game! It won't be long until he's in the first team.
