lol, after 1 hour? Harsh.

Maybe longer. I entered a portal that leads to hell or something and vaguely remember climbing a tower with some boss on the top floor. Afterwards it sent me back to earth. Up until that point the game was always telling me where to go next, so I was blindly following its directions, and when it stopped I was like welp I guess that's that.

Skyrim is Much better than Oblivion from what I've played. Let's say ... 5 times better

And speaking of Elder Scrolls games, it's nice that the mod community has been refreshing the graphics on that old clunker that kind of started the open-world genre: Morrowind. I would play that game if I could find my old copy somewhere around here ... cuz uh ... yeah I used them cheat codes to finish that game last time  It was just too long!

Morrowind before and after Mods in 2017

If only every game had such dedicated fans to give the old games a facelift now and then.

There are also teams working on "Skyoblivion" and "Skywind" trying to recreate Oblivion and Morrowind using the Skyrim engine and assets.

Playing Civilization III. Kind of gave up trying to play it the "legit" way by NOT saving and loading. The AI in this game is pretty tough and/or I started off in a really bad part of the continent with fewer resources than the other nations.

After I started cheating, by saving and loading again, now the game is really easy!

Played 1.5 hours (according to Steam) of ENSLAVED™: Odyssey to the West (a PS3/Xbox 360 generation game). It's reminding me of Uncharted with all the ledge jumping and such. The camera isn't as good and the game appears to be more buggy cuz I already had to restart from a checkout when one of the critical NPCs got stuck and wouldn't move.

Overall the game was ok but not enough to hold my interest ... I might get back to it later but I was more interested in playing Civilization 3 again and I spent double the time on that (3 hours).

I don't think I enjoy action games where I have to jump, shoot, dodge too much, especially with a icky camera and buggy NPCs. O yeah, the dealbreaker was when I went too far out of "the zone" and died .... WTF I was just exploring. Slow and steady Civ3 suits me better.

I really should get to the rest of my backlog though but I didn't explore Civ3's tech tree far enough last scenario and didn't get to build all the upgrades I wanted. In my current scenario I got a nice mini-continent all to myself to build on. Not that nightmare scenario last time where I had to fight both the American's and the crazy ass Incans on the same continent for expansion territory (I was only playing on the second or third lowest difficulty out of seven too). Last time, I only had 7 AI opponents but this time around I got 15, and I think two of them may have been wiped off of the map already.

The Carthaginians were the first to discover me with one of their ships. Wonder if I should play pacifist for the time being or go on a conquering trip with a massive sea invasion. Hmmm....

Beat Armored Core 3 Portable but kept playing it for a while because there's so much to do. The game really opens up once you beat it. Only finally a couple days ago I started playing the next game, Silent Line, using data transfer to carry over all my ACs, money, parts, everything. I was surprised that really everything is transferred over, I thought I'd be limited to picking a single AC or something.

The data transfer system has its caveats, once you transfer there's no going back, so you have to be absolutely sure you've done everything you wanted to in AC3 before moving on to Silent Line. I think I will go back to AC3 and try to beat the Extra Arena and if I unlock anything for doing it, I'll start over in Silent Line. *sigh* Thankfully I played Silent Line for only like an hour (probably less) so it's not like I'm losing that much progress if I start over. I only did one mission, plus some arena battles.

While I was playing AC3 and completing stuff it started to dawn on me that the game and its two sequels are quite likely three of the best games of all time. So I started to realize I should take it slow and enjoy them, instead of rushing through them just so I can hurry and upload a new batch of PSP games to my memory stick. AC3 is just as good (maybe better) than anything else I had lined up, including Final Fantasy Type-0. Although it makes me kind of sad also, since now I have nothing to look forward to. Armored Core is practically the pinnacle of PSP. And now that I've played 200+ PSP games there's not much else I can look forward to that can top that. But then again.. at least I went out on a high note!

I played less than an hour of Mirage: Arcane Warfare today after getting it for free on reddit!

It plays just like Chivalry: Medieval Warfare except it's more colorful and magical. But the worse part is the servers are even deader even though it's a newer game from 2017.

I feel really bad for the developers and I can understand why the game was given out for free a while ago ... just not enough players. It probably didn't add enough content on top of the Chivalry formula. Niche games like this probably can't last too long without a story mode backing it up.

Finished all the missions in Silent Line and did the Arena and Extra Arena. That was sooner than expected. I could start playing Last Raven if not for one final hurdle (finishing games requires too many hurdles..) which is that there is a mode called AI Arena which I think requires you register an AC first. It's probably bullshit, and would be sort of like activating the option in Dissidia to play it turn based sort-of, but it nonetheless requires me to go through the twenty minutes or so and then mental effort to at least try and see what it's all about.

After Last Raven I had planned to start Final Fantasy Type-0, but part of me wants to move to Tekken instead. My heart is twain. :p

Started playing Last Raven. What the hell have they done?? You can transfer your save over, but everything is nerfed. Some parts are missing, and everything has different names. Some cores that had OB no longer have it. It's not an expansion to AC3 like Silent Line was, this is more like a reboot. Add what happened to the graphics. Everything is gray and BLURRY. It's like a gritty reboot.

I was about to give up but I want to see the story. But after a while I found it oddly compelling. There's probably a way to play the game that I hadn't figured out yet. In fact I discarded my old tactics and and am using a new AC design I'm having moderate success with.

There's a pseudo time system where the world ends in 24 hours and after every mission 2 hours pass. It's like a Mega Man game, less about hoarding cash and parts like the previous game and more about trying to break through. Come to think of it, I should probably go back to Silent Line and change some things in my garage in order to get a bigger advantage in Last Raven. That the need to do something like this would arise is quite a twist in itself.

Just spent 2-3 hours setting up my Silent Line garage and configuring an AC in Last Raven. The PSP ran out of battery before I ever actually got to play anything. This made me cranky.

But if this was going to happen then at least I got it over with.

Last Raven better be really damn good..

Almost through my second playthrough of Last Raven. If the ending sucks again then I might put the game on the backburner and start FF Type-0, since fully completing Last Raven will take a million years. Maybe I'll do a third playthrough at most because there's a really hard mission 1 that I'm addicted to trying to beat. (I only gave up because I realized I should be trying to figure out which missions the majority of people who play the game will end up choosing, which means I should lean toward the easier missions or the missions the game obviously expects new players to pick.) There are three choices for mission 1. It's like it was included as a gag option. The other two choices are MUCH easier.

The game is pretty good. Hours pass by in a flash when i'm playing it. Some of the missions are really rad, like the one where you walk into a trap and have to fight two Ravens in succession. I love all their dialogue and accents. One of them is British, lol. The voice acting is pretty damn good too.

edit: okay now I'm stuck on a really cheap mission so I think I'm just gonna take a break from the game. Looks like I'm starting FF Type-0 next time I play.

Started playing FF Type-0 and so far it umm kind of sucks? I didn't play on a full charge though, I'll give it one full charge to see if it can convince me. That ought to be plenty of time, the way I see it, from now until I die there is a finite number of times I pick up my psp, and each time I usually play until the battery light starts blinking. So even giving one of those play sessions to a game is incredibly generous and should be plenty of time for the game to prove its worth. So far though the game is kind of just a button masher but even then it still manages to feel incredibly disjointed and convoluted.

In other news, Im stuck on a final mission in Last Raven that's basically impossible. It's kind of a good thing since it let me start FF Type-0 finally, but it's actually not a good thing. How the heck am I supposed to proceed if I go back to it? I could start over and pick different missions, but my entire incentive was to unlock/beat different final missions/endings, and well, that mission is one if them! I got what I asked for. I'm left with no choice but to figure out a way to beat it if I ever play Last Raven again.

Zinaida is the boss, but she's in overdrive, flying around everywhere like a wasp. I can barely get a lock, so how am I even supposed to fight.

Only posers use guides. (For single player console games, at least) Quit trolling.

Anyway, FF Type-0 is an abomination turns out. I just did some strategy mission where you're in an overworld and giving commands to troops to take over various towns. Never doing that again! So many things wrong with this game..

I moved on Tekken Dark Resurrection. It doesn't suck, and it's quite playable, but I don't see what the big deal is. Maybe that will change once I try other characters. Failing that, hopefully I'll like Tekken 6 more.

Actually started up Last Raven again and I appreciate the game a little extra now. Makes me wonder if I was rushing through it a little too much. (though not really)

Not trolling ... Ehehehe well I use em! It's just like reading an extended manual to me. O sure, you might get spoilers and not get as much fun from discovering things on your own, but I definitely like them.

And if you want to platinum games fast I think it's best reading the guides first ..

I guess I could have written that differently.. it's a matter of intent, really. Personally, I view gaming as a critical endeavor as well as a source of enjoyment. I wouldn't use guides because not only is the whole process of looking at and memorizing, or printing out, or pausing a game to check, a guide very absurd, but because it makes my opinion no longer credible. If that doesn't matter to you and your intent is simply to get platinums than it makes more sense in that context. Though personally I find it revolting and absurd that I'd need another gamer's permission to do something in a game, even if that's to get a platinum.

Discovering things on your own is 99% the point of a game. This is common fucking sense. Take FF4 for instance, I enter a cave and don't know where anything is or where the treasure is. Of course not, if it's the first time I've entered that cave. If I was supposed to know, why not just make the cave a straight line and put the treasure chests right in the player's path. The end result would be the same, you get the treasure, just as though you had used a guide. But if a game like that was made, fans would probably complain, because to them it was never about the treasure in the first place. These are people who just want to use guides for the sake of using guides.

Sorry. That post turned into a little rant. :p
Anyway, playing Tekken. Played as Kazuya and Lars. Now I'm doing Ganryu. Sumo powwweeeeeer!!
