This week I''m showing the awesomeness of Platoon on the Commodore 64. It was released in 1987 and based on the movie of the same name, most movie games suck, but this one is really good. It was also released for most computers also around at that time.

The first level sees you walking around the jungle.

It's not all boring jungle though, it has bridges.

And villages!

The second level you are in an underground base, playing the game as a first person shooter, this part is a huge step up from the previous level in terms of quality.

The map is quite large really, it's less linear than most modern shooters.

The last part is a shooter, you can use a light gun. The enemy storm your position at night and you have to survive, shooting up flares so you can see where they are coming from. This is one of my favourite levels of any game, the excitement you feel trying to survive is pretty special.

The first level feels really dated now, but the tunnel part is interesting and the last part still excites me. All in all, I'd say 7/10 for in it's day, 5/10 nowadays.
