This week I'll show you the first realistic Formula One game I ever played - Geoff Crammonds Formula One Grand Prix.
It was released in 1992 for the Commodore Amiga, Atari ST and PC.

It had a really cool intro with music that sounded just like the music the F1 show on the BBC used.

It featured all the official tracks that the cars used in 1992.

You could also change the name of your team and drivers, it;s fun racing as yourself :D

The racing itself was done from the drivers seat. You could choose lots of options to help you out too, such as suggested gear, racing line, auto brakes and more. You could also pit to change tyres, adjust wings and everything else you can do in modern games and real life F1.

It even had external views, pretty neat for its time.

The game has a few minor problem, the cars always feel glued to the road and it's highly unlikely you'll ever spin out. It's quite easy too, after a few hours you'll be winning every race.
All in all this was a great game though and was way ahead of anything else I played before it. I give it an 8/10.

I loved Formula One Grand Prix. It had realistic circuits, an in-depth simulation mode (it was very easy to customise individual drivers and cars, this game was from the early 90s when Senna and Mansell were at their peak and Michael Schumacher was still a rookie). And the slow-motion modus was fantastic, way ahead of Gran Turismo there. Probably one of the most influential racing games next to OutRun or Vroom.

Oh, and F1 97 is also my favourite racing game in general. Won the World Championship with Shinji Nakano, I did, though to be honest there wasn't that much of a difference between teams in terms of car performance, or perhaps not as much as there should have been.
