In the last couple of days, ad popups occasionally appeared on Between Life and Games, because the registration captcha plugin we were using was apparently compromised. You should be using Adblock Plus, but in case you aren't and you've seen any ads here, please accept my deepest apologies. I have disabled the captcha plugin and replaced it with a more basic one for now.

If you ever see ads on the site, they can only be due to instances such as this one - a third-party tool inserting them without my knowledge.

The policy of Between Life and Games is strictly no ads. I run this site for fun, as a hobby, paying for it myself. My goal is not to make money via ads.

Please let me know in case you ever encounter any ads on Between Life and Games!

Well, it's clear this site can't really make money from ads unless I put much more time and effort into it, which I won't because I have a day job. So it's pointless to force the annoyance of ads on the few readers for the measly reward of a couple of dollars a month.

And, as we all know, every site looks much better without ads.

That is true. I also do not mind sidebar ads or similarly minimal ads. Just the ones that actually interrupt your experience, like when articles put them in between actual pages, or the horrible pop-up things I see on Something Awful lately. And while their income is minimal, every little bit helps (I only got $20 a month from the small ad bar on Nuclearpoweredtoaster.com back when I owned the site for my comic, but it was enough to do occasional and essentially free eBay shopping at the time, even was able to get Mom the complete Sopranos series on DVD back in the day). But at the same time, if it's something you feel strongly about, nothing wrong with keeping them out either.
